Mechanics discovered a kitten when they opened the bonnet of a car which had traveled from Gleneagles Hotel to a garage in Newbridge. Workers at Pentland Land Rover called the Scottish SPCA when they found the furry pet and the animal welfare charity is currently trying to find the owner. The kitten is thought to be around five to six months old, is now in the care of the charity's Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, where she has been nicknamed Sweety. Animal Rescue Officer Fiona Thorburn said, "Sweety was found in a car which had travelled from Gleneagles Hotel that day. "It's fair to say the workmen got a bit of a shock when they went to inspect under the hood and ended up pulling her out. "Thankfully Sweety didn’t sustain any injuries from her journey and seemed very happy to be out of the car. "It's quite common for cats to climb into car engine areas for warmth and Sweety was very lucky to have escaped injury. "If someone is looking for Sweety then we'd love them to get in touch, but if no-one comes forward to claim her then we will find her a loving new home."
