New images reveal music school plan for Royal High
With councillors set to rule on plans to transform the former Royal High in Edinburgh into a luxury hotel, opponents are hammering home their call for the building to become a music school instead.
They have released new images showing their vision for the historic, but derelict, structure on Calton Hill.
The Royal High School Preservation Trust hopes to move St Mary’s Music School into the building.
They say their proposal is fully funded and a detailed planning application was submitted to Edinburgh Council last week.
The plans include a 300-seat concert hall in the former debating chamber, with a new publicly-accessible garden on the western and northern flanks of the site.
Developers behind the plan for a luxury hotel will find out if they can push ahead with the project when councillors hold a vote tomorrow.
