Hearts have announced the departure of goalkeeper Neil Alexander.

The 38-year-old made 72 appearances in two seasons at Tynecastle and will leave when his contract expires.

Head coach Robbie Neilson told the club's website: Everyone at Hearts would like to thank Neil for all his hard work in helping the club to win the Championship and secure third place and European football this season.

We'll now look to bring in another goalkeeper as part of our summer recruitment. We wish Neil all the best in the future.''

Scotland Under-21 goalkeeper Jack Hamilton last week signed a contract extension that ties him to Tynecastle until the summer of 2019.

Meanwhile, Hearts midfielder Perry Kitchen has been named in the United States squad for their friendly against Puerto Rico on May 22. Kitchen is pushing to get into Jurgen Klinsmann's final 23-man squad for the Copa America.
