Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on the A7 in Midlothian.

The 51-year-old man was riding a silver Kawasaki ZX1400 when it was involved in a collision with a white Peugeot 108 car, south of Middleton yesterday (Monday).

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, along with a 23-year-old woman, who had been driving the car. She is reported to have only suffered minor injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, near the junction with the B7007 Innerleithen turn-off, after the alarm was raised around 11.15am.

And the road, between Edinburgh and the Borders, was closed for around six hours while officers examined the scene.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes, from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to get in touch.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage of either vehicle involved beforehand.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 1088 of 20 September.”
