The most popular dish at an Indian restaurant in Midlothian has been transformed into a crisp flavour.

The Madras curry, served at The Radhuni restaurant in Loanhead, was selected by Walkers to be part of its new ‘Local Taste Icons’ range, joining just three others from restaurants across the UK.

The recipe, has been handed down through the generations of the Khan family, evolving slightly with customers’ changing tastes.

“We plan to serve the crisps in the restaurant as well as giving them out ‘on the house’ in every single takeaway and delivery order.”

The family-run business also supported the local community, raising £10,000 for the NHS and serving thousands of free meals to front line workers before and during the pandemic.

Katherine Cook from Walkers said: “Over the past 18 months, we have seen that, no matter what, local restaurants have been there for us as a nation.

“This year, Walkers is supporting and celebrating local restaurants by re-creating the flavours of the delicious dishes of four, much-loved local restaurants on our crisps and telling their iconic stories on our packs.

“We picked The Radhuni and its iconic Madras Curry after considerable research into their community impact and customer reviews.

“The Radhuni stood out to us particularly because of its success and generosity while also still being a family-owned business.”
