An Edinburgh mum is pledging to go on hunger strike until medicinal cannabis is fully funded on the NHS.

Karen Gray says the treatment has been life-changing for her seven-year old son, Murray who has severe epilepsy but she currently has to pay for the drug through fundraising.

She is part of campaign group of parents in similar positions who plan to begin a hunger strike outside Downing Street next month.

They say they were promised the drug would be made available but have not been able to get prescriptions.

Karen told Forth News, "We are organising and planning the hunger strike now.

"It will take place sometime after the first of November if we do not get the funding for our children.

"We are being forced into doing this because the Government is not helping us.

"The first of November marks a year since the law was changed, allowing clinicians to prescribe (medicinal cannabis) but nobody has had an NHS prescription"
