Martin Boyle: Hibs midfield trio the best in Scotland
Martin Boyle believes Hibernian boast the best midfield trio in Scotland when they are in top form after they swept aside Aberdeen.
The Hibees' engine room of Dylan McGeouch, John McGinn and Scott Allan were in sparkling form as the hosts claimed a richly-deserved 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Boyle and Florian Kamberi.
The Dons missed the influence of suspended skipper Graeme Shinnie as Neil Lennon's men dominated the centre of the pitch.
And Boyle insists it is a pleasure to play in front of a creative threesome as good as anything on show in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Boyle said: ''It's unbelievable having those three in midfield - Allan, McGeouch and McGinn - feeding me on the wing. You can't ask for a better three in Scotland when they're at their best.
You just run about knowing they'll find you. Scotty being back has been given a bit of freedom with John and Dylan behind him, and some of the passes he played today were just unbelievable.
It was a great second half, with everyone expressing themselves. The fans were behind us and it's an important three points.''
The triumph was sweet revenge for Hibs' 4-1 reverse at Pittodrie in December, which head coach Neil Lennon described as their worst display of the season and suggested that even Cowdenbeath would have beaten them on that day.
Boyle added: ''The 4-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie was brought up at half-time - we wanted to make a point. It wasn't acceptable up there and we wanted to get our own back.''
Meanwhile, Aberdeen stalwart Andrew Considine insists the Dons must prove their mettle by bouncing back against champions Celtic next weekend.
The 30-year-old made no excuses for a dismal display in Edinburgh, but is hopeful it was merely a blip which can be rectified against the Hoops.
Considine said: ''It was a hugely disappointing performance. I felt all game we struggled to create anything.
Going forward we were pretty limp. There wasn't as much energy as a normal Aberdeen team has going forward and we gave them too much respect and too much time on the ball.
It's the kind of performance there have maybe only been half a dozen of all season, so hopefully we can move on.
To bounce back on the big stage against Celtic would be ideal. We just need to dust ourselves down and get back on the training field on Monday morning. Hopefully we'll be all guns blazing for next Sunday.''
