Man on murder bid charge on train to Larbert - victim seriously injured

Another man was hurt and accused also facing offensive weapon charge

A 46-year-old man allegedly tried to kill another man on a train journey between Glasgow and Edinburgh last night.

The 20-year-old victim is in a serious condition in hospital and another man of the same age was also treated but has subsequently been released.

Around four police vehicles descended on the scene at Larbert Station, along with an ambulance and an incident response unit just before 8 o’clock.

The train service was suspended.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "A 46-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident on board a train heading to Larbert railway station at around 7.40pm on 16 February.

"He will be remanded in custody until his appearance at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday 18 February.

"A man in his 20s is in a serious condition in hospital. A second man in his 20s has been released from hospital.

"A report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."
