Man Jailed For Abusing Two Underage Girls As Their Mum Lay Dying
A man who abused two underage girls as their mother was dying was jailed for seven years today after he was convicted of a string of sex crime charges.
Callous George Johnston continued to abuse the victims after the woman's death.
One victim told the High Court in Edinburgh that as her mother's illness worsened she was able to do less and was bed bound.
She said that the first time Johnston attacked her she assumed she had "maybe imagined it".
She told the court that she did not like his behaviour but did not say anything as she was scared.
The woman, now aged 20, said the abuse finally ended after she told him it was disgusting.
First offender Johnston (48) of Colinton Place , Dundee, had earlier denied sexually abusing the girls beginning when one was aged seven and the other nine in 2004.
But he was found guilty of assault, indecency, indecent assault and sexual assault of the victims. He was convicted of attempting to rape one of the girls at a house in Glenrothes in Fife.
He was also convicted of assaulting a boy from the age of seven who was punched and struck on the head.
A judge told Johnston at the High Court in Edinburgh that it was "a difficult and distressing case".
Lady Clark of Calton also ordered that Johnston should be kept under supervision for a further three years.
Johnston, who had been on bail throughout his trial, was earlier remanded in custody and placed on the sex offenders' register.
