Man serious injured in assault and theft in Dunfermline

A 25-year-old man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, whilst a woman had her handbag stolen

A man has suffered serious injuries and a woman has had her handbag stolen in Dunfermline.

The incident happened on Saturday April 2nd between 4:30 - 5:30am on Guildhall Street.

Both victims were 25-years-old, the man's injuries whilst serious were not life threatening.

The suspect is described by Police as a white man in his early 20's, with a slim build, around 5ft 8 inches tall.

Police say he has short dark hair and is clean shaven, he was wearing dark clothing and speaking with a local accent.

After the attack the suspect is said to have run down the high street in the direction of Pittencrief Park.

Detective Constable Heather Cooper, from Dunfermline CID, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who was in the Guildhall Street or High Street areas of Dunfermline around the time of the attack and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.

“Any information could prove useful to our investigation, so if you can remember anything, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1475 of 2 April. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
