Man Hit by Lorry After Getting Out Car on M8

A man died when he was hit by a lorry after getting out of his car on the M8 in West Lothian on Wednesday afternoon. The 61-year-old was struck at around 1pm near Junction 3 and died at the scene. Emergency services closed the carriageway for more than three hours while they investigated the incident. A police spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a man has died following a collision between a pedestrian and a lorry on the M8 near to Junction 3 at around 1pm. "The 61-year-old man, who had exited his vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. "The M8 was reopened at 4.15pm and police are continuing enquiries to establish the circumstances.''
