A man has been detained by police following an armed robbery at an Edinburgh jewellery store.

The incident at Laing on Frederick Street on Monday morning saw watches worth around £100,000 stolen.

A man and a woman who had been detained earlier in the week were later released without charge.

Detective Inspector Grant Johnston said: "As part of an ongoing investigation into the armed robbery at a city centre jewellery store, officers from Police Scotland carried out a search of a property in Chesser Grove on Thursday March 5.

"A male has currently been detained and inquiries are continuing.''
