Man due in court on murder charge after woman found dead in Edinburgh

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Edinburgh.

Police discovered the woman's body at a property in Dumbiedykes Road at around 10am on Saturday.

A 52-year-old man was detained shortly afterwards and later charged with murder.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Police said they are yet to formally identify the woman.

Detective Inspector Ged Fitzpatrick, of Police Scotland's Major Investigations Team, said: Our thoughts are with the woman's family at this terrible time.
