Man dies after being hit by Royal Mail van near Dunfermline

A man's died after being hit by a Royal Mail van near Dunfermline.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A823(M) in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours overnight but has since re-opened, and police are appealing for witnesses.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 12.35am this morning police and other emergency services attended a road traffic collision on the A823 M Rosyth road near to Junction 2.

“A 45-year-old male pedestrian sustained fatal injuries.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0131 of February 9, 2019."
