Man found dead after major fire in East Lothian

A man has died after a blaze broke out at a block of flats in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to High Street in Dunbar at around 5.55pm on Thursday following reports of a fire.

Four engines raced to the scene a tht three storey building but a medical team pronounced a 37-year-old man dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.

An investigation to establish the cause of the blaze is still ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.55pm on Thursday, February 6 2025, police were called to a report of a fire within a block of flats in High Street, Dunbar.

“Emergency services attended and a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

“Enquires into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”
