Man detained in 'peaceful conclusion' to Edinburgh city centre 'disturbance'
A man has been detained after a disturbance in Edinburgh city centre.
The Lawnmarket on the city's famous Royal Mile was cordoned off on Sunday afternoon as police attended an address in the area.
Officers were called to the property at around 1:50pm after receiving a report of concern for a man inside.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: We can confirm that a disturbance reported at an address in the Lawnmarket earlier today came to a peaceful conclusion at around 4pm.
A man has since been detained in relation to this matter.
Local roads have been fully reopened and the public is thanked for their patience and cooperation.''
The area was busy with visitors enjoying the last weekend of the Edinburgh festivals.
Police dismissed reports on social media that the man had a device strapped to him as untrue.
