Man charged over attack on Edinburgh drugs baron
A 31-year-old man is due to appear at the capital's sheriff court later today.
A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault which happened on Edinburgh's Waterloo Place last month.
The victim was said to be notorious drugs baron, Sean McGovern who suffered several serious wounds during the attack.
It is believed McGovern was on home leave from Castle Huntly open prison and was preparing to return to the jail on a security van.
A 31-year-old man is due to appear at the capital's sheriff court later today.
Officers revealed news of the arrest in a statement on Tuesday morning, "Police Scotland can confirm that a 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious assault.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 27, on Waterloo Place and resulted in a 32-year-old man sustaining a number of serious wounds.
The 31-year-old will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Tuesday, August 9)."
