Man Charged Over Armed Raid At Edinburgh Jewellery Store

A man has been arrested and charged following an armed robbery at Laing the Jeweller in Edinburgh. Around £100,000 of Rolex watches were stolen during the raid at the store on Frederick Street on Monday morning. Officers recovered heroin with a street value of around £47,000, two firearms, ammunition and cash following a search of a property in Chesser Grove in the city on Thursday. Police said a 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the armed robbery. A second man, 26, who is not believed to have been involved in the armed robbery, was arrested at the property in connection with firearms and drug related offences. Both are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday. Police are still trying to trace the Rolex watches that were stolen from the jewellers and appealed for information about their whereabouts.
