Man attacked and robbed in broad daylight in East Lothian

The assault happened on Sunday.

Police in East Lothian are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked and robbed in broad daylight on a secluded cycle path in Whitecraig.

At around 3pm on Sunday, July 17th, the 24-year-old was making his way to work by heading east on a footpath found off Whitecraig Road, opposite the Mercat restaurant.

As he was passing the entrance to the southbound cyclepath, a male spoke to the victim, led him under the arch into a secluded area and knocked him out.

When he work up he discovered that his mobile phone and wallet had been stolen.

The male attacker's described as white, of a large build, dark haired and he's said to have worn a cram coloured jacked.

He also spoke with an Irish accent.

Detective Constable William Dickson said: "Our inquiries into this matter are ongoing and I urge anyone who was in the area of Whitecraig Road between 3pm and 5pm on Sunday to contact police.

"The victim required treatment for a minot injurt and was left badly shaken."
