Man attacked during terrifying raid on his home in Bathgate

Three men burst into a house on Elizabeth Drive but left empty-handed.

Three men wearing balaclavas burst into a home in Bathgate, hit a man inside to the leg and demanded money before leaving empty-handed.

The terrifying raid happened at a house on Elizabeth Drive in the Boghall area at around 11.15pm on Sunday (29 July).

Police say the victim, who is in his 30s, was left with a just a minor injury to his ankle but they described the attack and attempted robbery as 'very distressing'.

The suspects are also believed to be in their 30s thirties and have local accents.

They were travelling in a silver or grey Mercedes which had the registration plates obscured at the time.

Detective Constable Barry Carlin said: "Although the man's injury was minor, this was a very distressing incident which has understandably left him shaken.

"As part of our ongoing enquiries, we're urging anyone who may have seen the men or the car in the area, or who has any information on their whereabouts, to contact us as soon as possible.

"I also want to reassure local residents that there will be an increase in high visibility patrols in the area over the coming week and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers.
