Man arrested in connection with death of boy hit by bin lorry in Edinburgh

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after a boy was killed when he was hit by a bin lorry in Edinburgh

11-year-old Thomas Wong died at the scene on Whitehouse Road just after 8 in the morning on the 1st of March

Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are continuing.

At the time of the incident, his family has provided the following tribute to their son: “We are utterly heartbroken. Thomas was the perfect son. He was the best little brother to his older sister and was adored by all his family.

“Thomas went to Cramond Primary School which he loved. He made good friends there. We will all miss him terribly.

“We are very grateful for all the sympathy and heartfelt messages we have received from people. Thank you.”
