Man arrested following Niddrie "suspicious package" discovery

A 40-year-old man has been detained after a suspicious package was found at an address in Edinburgh's Niddrie area last night.
Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure as specialist army engineers were called in.
Experts later said the item was not viable, and posed no risk to the public.
The man is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today (26th July).
