Police confirm a 24-year old man has been arrested after Hearts winger Barrie McKay was targeted by missiles thrown by Celtic fans at Parkhead on Thursday night.

McKay was struck with a plastic bottle as he went to take a corner in the second half of their 1-0 defeat.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with items thrown onto the pitch during a match at Celtic Park during the evening of Thursday, 2 December.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and further enquiries are ongoing.”

Kyogo Furuhashi scored the only goal of the game but Hearts boss Robbie Neilson was unhappy it was allowed to stand.

He said: "It was offside. The linesman has got to make a decision. It's a key decision in the game and he doesn't make it.

"He is looking straight along the line, he can see he is offside and he doesn't put his flag up, and that's the disappointing thing. I have seen it, he is ahead of the ball, he is offside.

"There were a few decisions which were a little bit strange to say the least."
