Man arrested after knife attack outside Leith pub

Police have launched an investigation after a man was slashed in an Edinburgh street last night.

Officers raced to the scene outside the Strathmore Bar on Buchanan Street at the junction with Iona Street, at around 5pm on February 23, following reports of a man having been assaulted.

The area was taped off as a major probe was launched. Th victim was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

A 62-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 5pm on Friday, 23 February, to a report of an assault on the Iona Street area of Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a 61-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“A 62-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
