Man appears in court charged with murder near Edinburgh Castle

A 40 year old man has appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (June 3) charged with murder.

George McAdam made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Michael Fletcher. No plea was offered and the case was continued for further inquiry. McAdam was remanded in custody.

This follows the death of 28-year old university graduate, Paul Smith, who was found fatally injured in Johnston Terrace, near Edinburgh Castle, last Thursday afternoon
