Man appears in court following alleged stabbing of police officer in Edinburgh

A 19-year old man has appeared in court charged with Attempted Murder following the alleged stabbing of a police officer at Edinburgh college.

Gabrielle Friel made a brief appearance in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The case was continued for further inquiry and he was remanded in custody.

Forth News understands the police officer injured at the college's Granton campus yesterday has now been released from hospital.
