Man appears in court in connection with Duncan Banks death

A man appeared in court today (04 Feb 2016) charged over the "violent" murder of a man found "badly beaten" in his flat.

Duncan Banks, 39, was found dead at the property in Skye Road, Dunfermline, at about 5pm on Monday September 28.

Following a post mortem examination cops confirmed they were treating his death as murder.

His body was discovered after friends for whom he had been dog-sitting became concerned when he didn't answer his phone.

They went round and used a ladder to reach the window of his top floor flat, and saw him lying lifeless on the living room floor.

On Wednesday a man was arrested and charged over the death.

Today Steven Thomson, 28, of Dunfermline, appeared in private on petition at Dunfermline Sheriff Court over the death.

He made no plea or declaration to charges of murder and theft.

The case was continued for further examination and he was remanded in custody meantime.

Thomson is expected to appear in court again next week.
