Man, 26, Arrested After West End Crash Leaves Pedestrian Injured

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian and a cyclist were knocked down in the centre of Edinburgh.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the collision in Palmerston Place at around 4.30pm on Monday and is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The cyclist was uninjured.

A Police Scotland statement said: "The incident occurred when a black Vauxhall Corsa struck a cyclist and a pedestrian. The car then came to a halt when it struck a set of traffic lights.

"The pedestrian suffered serious head injuries and has been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service where they are currently being treated for their injuries. The cyclist was uninjured.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing and a 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"Any witnesses to this incident are requested to contact Police Scotland on 101.''
