A power cut has caused the disruption

ALL train services are at a standstill at Edinburgh Waverley station after a power cut.

The disruption first emerged at around 4.30pm on Thursday.

Network Rail believe the outage was caused by a Telecomms fault and have said a specialist engineer has been dispatched to the site.

The incident has also had an impact on services operating at Haymarket.

ScotRail have said alternative transport options are very limited at the moment that and customers should make their own arrangements if possible.

The operator has said on social media: "Due to a failure of the electricity supply at Edinburgh, our services will be subject to delay and alteration at this time. Investigations are underway.

"Tickets can be used on Edinburgh Trams between Haymarket and Edinburgh Gateway, and also Haymarket and Edinburgh Park".

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We suspect that this outage has been caused by a Telecomms fault and a specialist engineer has been dispatched. They are expected to arrive at the fault location at around 1900 and will begin fault finding."
