'Lovely lassie' 10 Year Old Dies After Collision With Car While Riding Her Bike in West Lothian
A 10-year-old girl, Brooke Bagley, involved in a collision with a car as she rode her bike in West Calder at the weekend has died in hospital.
Our reporter Shiona McCallum has the story:
The child suffered serious head injuries in the accident involving a black Nissan Micra on the A71 at Burngrange Cottages at 6.10pm on Saturday.
She was being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh but passed away on Monday at 7pm.
The family of Brooke Bagley said: “Brooke was a bright and intelligent young girl who was full of life, with a large circle of friends. She will be sadly missed by us her family, her friends and all who knew her.
“We have been left heartbroken and devastated by the loss of Brooke. We ask for privacy at this time and the space to allow us to grieve.”
Head Teacher, St Mary’s Primary School, Polbeth, Maria Brown said: “The school is heartbroken at the tragic news that Brooke has died. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this desperately sad time.
“Brooke was a popular Primary 7 pupil who set a good example for all children in the school and loved her role as a Primary 1 Buddy. She was talented at writing, photography and art work and was a very good friend to many.
“Brooke will be sadly missed by everyone at St Mary’s Primary School and Polbeth Nursery.”
Experienced counsellors have been available today (3 November) at St Mary’s Primary School to speak to pupils and staff. The school will now take time to consider how it will remember Brooke.
Executive councillor for education Lawrence Fitzpatrick commented: “On behalf of West Lothian Council I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Brooke’s family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.”
The death has now been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
