Local athletes hoping for medal success at 2018 Commonwealth Games
As the 2018 Commonwealth Games gets underway in Australia's Gold Coast, we're hearing from local athletes hoping to bring home medals for Scotland.
Over the next eleven days over 200 athletes will represent Team Scotland in 17 different sports. They're hoping to make it the most successful away games ever.
One of them is Micky Yule. He's a powerlifter from Wallyford, who lost both his legs while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.
"I was leading a foot patrol in Afghanistan and activated a pressure pad IED with my foot.
"I flew back to the UK, was in a coma for a week and then started weeks, months, years of rehab.
I found sport and used sport to change my life. I was in some dark places, as you can imagine, from being what I thought was the toughest soldier in the army to be reliant on help to go to the toilet and being fed by my wife.
"It's my time to shine, I need to get on with it and get my head down and show why I'm here."
Joe Hendry is an amatuer wrestler from Edinburgh. He only took up the sport four years ago after being inspired by the 2014 Glasgow Games.
"It's been an amazing journey, somewhat unexpected, but there's been a lot of hard work and dedication.
"To hear you are part of team Scotland there is no greater feeling, there is no greater honour than to represent your country.
"I was at the opening ceremony for the Glasgow games. I thought I'd really like to do that, have that sense of pride, but I wasn't sure what I would do!"
Micky Yule will compete for the first time on April 5, as for Joe Hendry he'll feature on April 12.
