Man, 62, dies following collision with police car

An investigation has been launched after a pedestrian died following a collision with a police car in Livingston.
Tragedy struck in the West Lothian town's Almond Link Road around 10.15pm on Boxing Day.
A 62-year-old man was rushed by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
He has not been formally identified, however police say his next of kin have been informed.
The sole occupant of the marked car, another male, did not require medical treatment.

The Police Investigation and Review Commissioner (PIRC) are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
The road was closed overnight while investigators examined the scene, before re-opening around 4.30am this morning (Tuesday).

PIRC senior investigator Steven Carr said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who died.
“Our investigation into the circumstances of this incident is continuing, and I would urge any drivers with dash cam footage, or anyone who witnessed the collision, to please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3422 of 26 December 2022 or alternatively the PIRC during office hours on 01698 542900.”
