A family home in West Lothian was targeted in a fire attack in the early hours of Hogmanay.

Three fire engines rushed to the semi-detached house in Ladywell, Livingston just after two yesterday morning, finding both the house and a car on fire.

No-one was hurt and firefighters put out the flames, with a full investigation now underway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are treating as wilful a fire at an address in Heatherbank, Ladywell, Livingston, which happened around 2.25am on Wednesday, 31 December 2025.

“No one was injured, however, there was damage to a car and minor damage to the house.

“Enquiries are continuing.”
