One of Scotland's oldest men, the legendary Hibs supporter Sam Martinez, has died at the age of 106.

He passed away just months after seeing his beloved side life the Scottish Cup for the first time in his lifetime.

After that fixture, he described himself as the "happiest man at Hampden".

Sam moved to the capital in 1945 to help with the war effort, and became a Hibees supporter after spotting a crowd of people gathering at the top of Leith Walk.

Initially he thought it was a riot, but decided to follow them to see what was happening.

He ended up at Easter Road where a football match was going on.

Forth News reporter Hope Webb spoke to Sam back in May, before Hibs' historic win over Rangers:

Hibs players will wear black armbands in tribute to Sam during Saturday's match with Morton.

Hibees boss Neil Lennon has also been paying tribute.
