LISTEN: Hibs star Danny Swanson on death of best friend in brutal street attack

Hibs star Danny Swanson is opening up at the tragic death of his best friend, who was killed in a brutal street attack a year ago this week.

The midfielder had been out celebrating the new year with Shaun Woodburn, but tragedy struck just minutes into 2017.

30-year-old Shaun was violently assaulted outside Gladstone's pub in Leith.

Days later he died in hospital.

The 17-year-old responsible - who's too young to be named legally - was jailed for 4 years back in November.

Danny and Shaun were friends since they were both 15-years-old and dreamed of playing for the Hibees.
