LISTEN: Forth 1's Knoxy backs mole campaign after cancer scare

Diane Knox is helping launch a nationwide drive urging Scots to get worrying moles checked out

Forth 1 DJ Diane Knox has teamed up with Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital to urge Scots to get worrying moles checked out, after one on her back turned out to be Stage 3 melanoma.

A year since 32 year–old Diane’s shock diagnosis, she is backing the nationwide mole awareness campaign which aims to encourage Scots to Be ‘Mole’ Aware and know the signs and symptoms to look out for.

The campaign highlights the importance of regular self-examination, giving tips and advice on what to look out for by learning the ‘ABCD’ of moles.

A special web page: http://www.nuffieldhealth.com/bemoleaware provides information whilst an ‘ABCD’ of moles’ visual guide will be shared through a social media campaign, using the hashtag #bemoleaware.

Social media users will also be encouraged to share a ‘backie’ online instead of a ‘selfie’, to help raise awareness of the need to check those hard to reach areas.

Our reporter Linda Sinclair spoke to Diane about her experience.
