More than 30 firefighters have tackled a blaze in a flat on the top floor of a high rise in west Edinburgh.
More than 30 firefighters have tackled a blaze in a flat on the top floor of a high rise in west Edinburgh. One man was taken to hospital and another was treated at the scene after flames took hold on the 12th floor of Cobbinshaw House North in Calder Gardens at 8.45pm on Monday. The first fire crew to arrive called in an extra pump and command support unit, taking the total number of firefighters involved in the operation to around 36. They used breathing equipment and a line of hose to tackle the flames, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed. Smoke also billowed into the flats on the two floors below the scene.
