Months after tougher rules on clinics who offer botox and fillers came into force, Radio Clyde News has been told around half are still to register.
The clampdown on cosmetic procedures affects medically trained practitioners like dentists or nurses working in private salons - any one offering the service has to be registered with Healthcare Improvement Scotland although beauticians come under different rules.
250 out of around 500 have signed up and Kevin Ferguson from HIS says it is crucial anyone offering these beauty treatments makes themselves known..
It comes after solicitors revealed they are taking legal action against a beautician in Glasgow accused of falsely claiming they were a nurse to take a course on botox and fillers.
One of their clients claims to have ended up in hospital after her treatment and the firm says they’re in talks with a number of women who were left with injuries after lip fillers.
