Former Sunderland and Bristol City boss Lee Johnson looks set to be announced as the new manager of Hibernian.

It's understood he is the one chosen by the hierarchy to replace Shaun Maloney at Easter Road.

Johnson actually had a brief spell with city rivals Hearts in 2006.

He was also part of the Kilmarnock team who beat Celtic a decade ago to win the League Cup.

Johnson has been out of work since January after being sacked by Sunderland - replaced by former Hamilton Accies coach Alex Neil.

Shaun Maloney became the second manager dismissed by Hibs this season in April, following Jack Ross who he had replaced.

Hibs won just one cinch Premiership game in 2022 under Maloney and a 3-1 league defeat against Hearts consigned them to a bottom-six finish.

Hibs had also reportedly been in talks with former Malmo boss Jon Dahl Tomasson.
