Late night bus stop attack in Edinburgh leaves man with serious facial injuries

Police are hunting a man who left a 55-year-old male with serious facial injuries after striking him in the face at a bus stop outside an Edinburgh cemetery.

The attack took place on Old Dalkeith Road near Craigmillar Castle Park Cemetery around 11.50pm on Sunday night.

The attacker started a conversation with the victim before hitting him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

The suspect is believed to be white, around 40-years-old and 5ft 11.

Detective Sergeant Mark Lumsden said: "This was a shocking attack and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the assault continue.

"We are keen to speak to any witnesses that may have seen the suspect, particularly a cyclist who was in the area at the time."
