Scottish Labour has suspended leading MSP Foysol Choudhury.

The 56-year-old representative for Lothian and the spokesman on Culture, Europe, and International Development is being investigated over alleged inappropriate conduct.

Choudhury was elected at the last Hollyrood poll in 2021 becoming the first Bangladeshi born person to sit in the Scottish Parliament.

It’s understood the probe has been launched after an internal complaint.

A spokesperson for the party said: “The Labour Party takes all complaints seriously.

“They are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures, and any appropriate action is taken.”

It comes a month after his party colleague Colin Smyth was charged with possessing indecent images of children and allegedly hit a secret camera in a Hollyrood toilet.

The Labour Party conference in Liverpool starts tomrorow.
