West Lothian cyclist, Josh Quigley has abandoned his latest attempt at breaking a world record.

It's after the 28-year-old suffered an injury to his knee while cycling laps of a circuit through Aberdeenshire.

Mr Quigley had covered over 1200-miles to reach day 5 or 56-per-cent of his challenge to cycle the greatest distance in a week.

He aimed to beat the current record holder, cycle pro Jack Thompson from Australia who set the bar at 2,177-miles.

Josh Quigley had returned to his bike after a serious crash in Dubai several months ago when he came off of it traveling down a hill at 40-miles-per-hour.

JOSH QUIGLEY HAD BEEN STRUGGLING:

He suffered approximately 10-broken bones - including a broken arm, shoulder, collar bone, ribs, as well as a fractured spine, pelvis, and pubic bone - and also required surgery.

In 2019, the man from Livingston was struck by a vehicle which caused Josh life-threatening injuries when he fell off his bike.

1000 MILES!

However, he's best known for his most recent achievement last September which saw the 28-year-old set a new record for the fastest time taken to cycle the North Coast 500 route.
