Scotland midfielder John Fleck in hospital after collapsing during Sheffield United match

It happened during the second-half of the Blades' Championship fixture in Berkshire.

Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck was taken off on a stretcher after collapsing during the second half of their match against Reading.

The Scotland international and former Rangers player, 30, received "urgent medical care" according United's official Twitter account.

After a 10-minute delay, he was taken off a stretcher and out of the ground to a waiting ambulance.

The club confirmed after the final whistle that Fleck was conscious when he left the stadium.

Manager Slavisa Jokanovic said: "He is in hospital, he is conscious and he asked for the result. Hopefully he we will be okay. He is safe, in good hands and we pray that everything will be okay."

The Scotland National Team tweeted: "Our thoughts this morning are with John Fleck.

"We're wishing you a safe recovery, John."

Fleck has five international caps.
