Police are appealing for witnesses following the break-in at a house in Baird's Way, Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday.
As well as the jewellery, which is worth a five-figure sum, cash and electronic items were also stolen in the incident.
The white BMW 1 Series car, which has the registration plate SM14 WPF, has not yet been found.
Constable Kris Burns said: This house-breaking has left the homeowners devastated and we are pursuing various line of inquiry to trace the suspects.
We would ask that anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in Baird's Way on Wednesday July 13 contacts police immediately.
In addition, anyone who sees the stolen BMW should also come forward so we can recover it and progress this investigation.''
