Investigation following body discovery at disused railway in Edinburgh

An investigation's been launched after a body was found at a disused railway in Edinburgh.

A member of the public made the discovery at Abbeyhill this morning (Fri 22nd July).

British Transport Police are currently at the scene, and believe the remains have been there for some time.

A spokesperson said: "At this stage, enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this death and we're in discussions with the Procurator Fiscal.

Officers are working to identify the person and inform any next of kin."
