Police in Musselburgh are appealing for witnesses, after an attempted knifepoint robbery last week.

The incident happened around 4pm on Thursday 7th July on a footpath in Eskside East.

The 40-year-old was walking near to the bridge known locally as the Electric Bridge when a knife-wielding man approached him and demanded he hand over his belongings.

The victim refused and a struggle ensued before the suspect made off.

The suspect's is described as white, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft 2ins tall with a medium build and light brown hair in a ponytail. It is believed he was wearing blue jeans and a dark t-shirt.

Detective Constable Jordan Sharp from Dalkeith Police Station said: "The victim did not require any medical attention following this incident, but was left very shaken and upset as a result.

"Anyone who was around the Eskside East area or the Electric Bridge on Thursday afternoon last week and remembers seeing anything suspicious should contact police immediately.

"We would also ask that anyone who recognises the description of the suspect and who can help us identify him also gets in touch."
