Human Remains Found In Search For Missing Fife Fishermen
Human remains have been found in the search for two fishermen missing since their boat overturned at sea.
Jason Buchan and David Stead have not been seen since the 10ft fishing boat they were on capsized off the coast of East Wemyss, Fife, last Monday.
Another man, Birrell Stewart, who was also onboard, was recovered from the Firth of Forth but later died in hospital.
At the height of the search, lifeboats from Anstruther and Kinghorn were involved as well as the Rescue 131 RAF helicopter from Boulmer, Northumberland, and three coastguard teams from Kinghorn, Leven and St Andrews.
Police Scotland said partial human remains'' have been found at two beaches in St Andrews and the families of Mr Buchan and Mr Stead have been informed.
Chief Inspector Adrian Annandale said: We are currently investigating two separate discoveries of what appears to be partial human remains.
The first was found on a beach in St Andrews by a member of the public at around 11.30am on Sunday August 16. The second was discovered today on East Sands at around 10am.
Family liaison officers have informed the relatives of two men reported missing from East Wemyss on Monday August 10 and will continue to maintain contact with them throughout our investigation.
A detailed forensic examination of both items is now under way. Police are continuing with searches and specialist divers from Police Scotland's marine unit were deployed to the East Wemyss area over the weekend.

A statement released by Mr Stewart's family last week said: ''Our whole family are devastated at the death of Birrell. He was a loving son, brother and dad.
