Hibernian have completed the signing of USA international Matthew Hoppe.

The 21-year old joins on loan from Middlesbrough on a deal until the end of the season.

Hoppe has previous experience of the Bundesliga where he scored six goals in 22 appearances for Schalke.

That form earned him a call up to the USA national team where he has made eight appearances for their senior side, scoring once.

He moved to Mallorca after his spell in Germany before sealing a switch to the English Championship with Middlesbrough the summer.

However, Hoppe has failed to made an impact at Riverside and will now spend the rest of the campaign at Easter Road.

Manager Lee Johnson said: “We’re delighted to add Matthew to the group as he’s someone that’ll add extra quality in the final third.

“He’s a talented player that can play in all three positions across our front-line and someone that joins with good experience being a full US international and that has played regularly in the Bundesliga.

“We look forward to working with him and welcome him to the Club.”
