Hibs have completed the signing of Niklas Gunnarsson until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

The 24-year-old defender joins on a loan deal from Vålerenga until the end of the season, following a similar spell with Swedish side Elfsborg, and is the second addition to the Hibernian squad in January after the signing of striker Chris Dagnall.

The Norwegian can play across the back four, and will join up with Alan Stubbs’ squad ahead of the William Hill Scottish Cup clash with Raith Rovers on Saturday 9 January.

Speaking to the official Hibernian website, Gunnarsson said: “I am very pleased to have signed and am looking forward to getting started.

“I know the team are in good form this season and hopefully I will be able to make the team and help us win promotion.

“I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve seen so far, from the city to the stadium and training centre, and am sure I will enjoy my time at Hibs.”
