Hibs Remain Hopeful of Promotion Despite Rangers Defeat

Hibs boss Alan Stubbs insists his side should not be written off despite their 2-0 defeat to Rangers in the first leg of their semi-final play off at Ibrox.

Goals from Nicky Clark and Kenny Miller gave the Glasgow side the advantage ahead of the second leg at Easter Road on Saturday.

The winner will then face Motherwell for a chance for promotion to the Scottish Premiership from the Championship.

Speaking after last night's match Stubbs said, "I'm obviously disappointed. I thought we played our part in the game to have come out with something.

"But, in the end, for our chances, we didn't work the keeper enough. We got into good areas, maybe rushed it a bit at times.

"I've got plenty of confidence that we can turn this around".

While Hibs were sunning themselves in La Manga in preparation for the game, Rangers had been forced to get past Queen of the South for their semi-final slot.

The home fans among the 41,236-strong Ibrox crowd outnumbered the travelling support 40 to one.
